VMDO Hosts Two Externs This Winter

VMDO hosted two externs from the UVa School of Architecture for one week during UVa’s winter recess.  Daniel and Katie were introduced to many of the firm’s ongoing projects and shadowed various members of VMDO through a comprehensive curriculum of professional practice.

Their work load included: interview preparation for a campus masterplan, feasibility study meetings with clients of Arlington Public Schools and Poquoson City Schools,  familiarization with various construction document sets, an internal Revit User Group meeting, planning for a presentation at an upcoming conference, a structural consultant meeting for Liberty University Library, a Construction Administration shop drawing review for Richmond City Schools,  a crash course in specifications, materials, and the Project Manual, and a construction tour of Buckingham Elementary School.  Daniel and Katie were also able to roll up their sleeves and contribute drawings and modeling for projects currently in design.

The Liberty University Library is a structure that lifts the human spirit. Thanks for great design and use of materials in accomplishing an up-lifting experience.
